Back to page contentsDigital teams
I make accessibility happen, by supporting and enabling teams at every stage, to build their best accessible products, because accessibility isn’t achieved by one person alone, it takes a team.
Unfortunately it’s common place that people working in tech can have little or no understanding of digital accessibility.
I meet people where they are at in their accessibility journey. I am equally at ease working with those who are at the exciting time of just discovering accessibility, to those who have a good understanding.
With my experience from working as a desginer and also a software engineer, I have a rare ability and skill set that enables the support of all team members, from Product Owners, Designers, Software Engineers through to Test.

From my base near Exeter, I use my depth of experience from working as a key part of digital teams at the BBC, for over 20 years, to support and enable digital accessibility journeys, for those who own, use or create digital products.
I am a Principal Accessibility Subject Matter Expert (SME), who has worked as a Software Engineer for the web, with BA Hons degree in Graphic Design. I was a finalist in the Tech For Good Awards in 2020 (Accessibility category) and am a contributor to the BBC Guide to Accessible HTML Documents. Accessibility guidelines, user experience, assistive technology and web standards are my bread and butter.
I bring 9 years of experience from the role of Accessibility Lead (Principal Software Engineer) supporting the BBC World Service web development teams to build accessible products, for what are likely the most accessible news websites in the world, consisting of 40 plus websites in different languages, serving news to those who need it the most, across the world, for an audience of approximately 30 million weekly users.
I am most interested in supporting understanding, and working as an enabler for individuals and teams who want to build examplar accessible digital products; that are a force for good in the world.
Personality type, Advocate: "Idealistic and principled, people with the rare INFJ personality type aren’t content to coast through life - they want to stand up and make a difference. For these compassionate personalities, success doesn’t come from money or status but from seeking fulfilment, helping others, and being a force for good in the world. While they have lofty goals and ambitions, INFJs shouldn’t be mistaken for idle dreamers. People with this personality type care about integrity, and they’re rarely satisfied until they’ve done what they know to be right. Conscientious to the core… aiming to never lose sight of what truly matters."
